Madhabpur Lake is an artificial lake located at Patrakhla Tea Garden, Madhabpur Union, Kamalganj Upazila, Moulvibazar District, Sylhet. The first thing that will fascinate you on the way to this lake is the road that runs through this potted tea garden, the view of the tea gardens on both sides of the road will enchant your mind. If you go ahead along this beautiful road flowing from the inside of the tea garden, you will see this beautiful Madhabpur Lake. Madhabpur Tea Garden Authority Madhabpur Lake was built in 1965 by storing water by embanking three hills in the middle of the garden. Tea is grown in these rain-fed areas of the highlands as tea requires a lot of water throughout the year. But as this hilly area is sloping, water does not stay there for long so the garden authorities made this lake in need of water. The lake is about 50 acres in size and 3 km in length; Width space typically 50 to 300 meters. You can climb the hill next to the lake to see this lake beautifully, stairs have been made to cut the soil to climb the hill and a small resting place has been made to sit on the hill. The lake can be seen beautifully from this hill. This spectacular Madhabpur Lake flows through small hills and hills. There are tea gardens in the hills and hills around the lake. Both the tea garden and the lake have created a breathtaking view that attracts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists throughout the year. The hills to the south are on the Indian border; from here you can see the high and low hills of the Indian region. This Madhabpur Lake has blue lotus and purple water lilies; Golpata and Shaluk bushes can also be seen. Hills bushes have wild flowers of various colors, of which Bhat is the main one. This lake is located in a tea garden so the amount of natural trees is very low there are some shade trees in the tea garden. Various species of ducks, sarali, pankauri, jalpipi and other aquatic and migratory birds can be seen in the lake. With the onset of winter, migratory birds flock here in droves. A road has been made along the shores of the lake to explore this lake. You can easily enjoy the beauty of this beautiful lake by walking along this road. Some seating has been created for sitting on one side of the lake if you want you can sit and see this beautiful lake. The lake is open to visitors every day from 9 am to 6 pm.


✅ How to go:

The lake is located about 207 km east of Dhaka, about 40 km east of Moulvibazar and about 12 km east of Sreemangal in Moulvibazar. If you want to see Madhabpur Lake, you have to come to Sreemangal first. Various buses go from Dhaka to Sreemangal. Sreemangal also has a train service, so you can go to Sreemangal by bus or train from Dhaka. From Sreemangal town, you can go to Madhabpur Lake by bus or CNG or autorickshaw through Bhanugach Chaumohna in Kamalganj. Madhabpur Lake can also be reached by renting CNG and autorickshaws from Sreemangal Tea Garden or Lawachara National Park.

Madhabpur Lake is located in Kamalganj upazila. As there is no good accommodation in Kamalganj Upazila, Sreemangal has the best accommodation near this lake. To stay in Sreemangal you will find different quality hotels including five star hotels.


✅ Where to eat:

There is no food in Madhabpur Lake. For food you have to come to Bhanugach or Sreemangal town of Kamalganj.
